Interesting idea, but it might be an incentive for McCain to pick Lieberman. Dems don't want that. Which might mean McCain will do it anyway.

I would love for McCain to pick that sanctimonious, duplicitous, dishonest weasel. The Democrats hate him, the Republicans don't like him much, (which is how the Democrats felt about him in 2000), and he would be constantly telling McCain what to do in front of the cameras, making McCain look like he needs a minder. Plus there's that face, which seems far more sensitive to gravity than most basset hounds. Yeah, that would really be the ticket that screams change you can believe in.

No, both parties are not indistinguishable. The neo-cons have destroyed the Republican Party with their anti-gay, anti-abortion, pro-war, and borrow-and-spend policies but they continue to pursue their reckless agenda of domestic neglect. The idea that you can ignore infrastructure needs and always cut taxes has run its course. Americans aren't buying it any longer.

The Democrats are trying to bring some pragmatism back to the process. If we don't want a Minneapolis-style bridge collapse, then we have to pay for inspections and repairs or replacements. We should also be paying with short term bonds so don't mortgage our children's future.

I think Obama has really gotten many Republcians onto his side because he represents a new way of thinking. In ways he really reminds me of Ronald Regan. This election will be decided by "Obama Republicans".
