The Iowa Independent: Huckabee Tops GOP Power Rankings, Paul Takes Third

  • NCMarc · 1 year ago
Ron Paul Ron Paul has the grassroots to win the election. Whether or not they will actually count the votes remains to be seen.

As far as defeating Hillary, I don't think any of the GOP other than Paul will be able to achieve it.

  • Randy · 1 year ago
Only Ron Paul can deliver the white house to the GOP The voters of this nation will not elect a pro iraqi war candidate in 2008. Over 70% of the American People oppose this war, so if the GOP is shortsighted enough to nominate anyone besides Ron Paul, the only anti iraqi war candidate. They will deserve the thrashing they get in 2008, why?- they didnt learn from the spanking they got when they lost congress in 2006. only and i mean only Ron Paul can carry the GOP to victory in 2008, because he is the only anti iraqi war GOP candidate.
  • JayDee · 1 year ago
Thats true Thats true, Paul makes Hillary look like a pro-war candidate. She would not be able to use her favorite tactic of "blaming this administration" on Ron Paul.
  • Tangeng · 1 year ago
Anybody But Clinton is still alive and well Come on!

The assertion that only Ron Paul can win is disingenuous.  Paul's the best change for constitutionists and libertarians in years, and that' reason to be excited, but stating that only Paul can win against Hillary is disingenuous.  The Republican nominee will probably win against Hillary.  I would say that Huckabee or McCain would do just fine.

Paul does have grassroots excitement.  I'd like to see the turnout numbers for the primaries and caucuses.  It'll be interesting to see.

GO RP I sure wish people for Huckabee would realize that he has NO knowledge of many important issues like foreign policy and the HUGE monetary problem this country is facing! Ron Paul is the most qualified for the job. Why is it that in popular voting the most qualified is always looked over and the one that has a good "look" or "looks the part" always gets ahead? When this country is in trouble, the look of the president will get us nowhere! GO RP!

Ron Paul also has a blimp Also, Ron Paul has a blimp.

Now we have air superiority (along with idea superiority). Unfortunately it took segregationist Governor Wallace to reveal the truth that "there's not a dime's worth of difference between" Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats willingly went along with the War in Iraq, suspension of Habeas Corpus, detaining protesters, banning books like "America Deceived' from Amazon, stealing private lands (Kelo decision), warrant-less wiretapping and refusing to investigate 9/11 properly. They are both guilty of treason.

Support Dr. Ron Paul and save this great nation.

I'm glad to see Ron Paul on the rise... I think he is being seriously underestimated.  I've only ever seen one Hillary bumpersticker and a few Kucinich.  I've never seen even on bumpersticker, lawn sign or anything for any of the Republican candidates except Ron Paul.

To say that Ron Paul supporters are devoted is an understatement.  I would almost lay my paycheck on the line that not even one Ron Paul supporter will be swayed to back somebody else on caucus night and they will all show up even if they have to walk uphill both ways through 6 feet of snow without shoes in a massive blizzard.  However, other attendees will be swayed....it will be interesting to see who gets the most gain from this.

It will be very interesting indeed.

  • Dave M. · 1 year ago
Huckabee's meteoric rise? That's laughable. What would explain Huckabee's numbers? It couldn't be that he and Brownback had cracked the Christian right vote in two, could it? Naaaaah...

Just because Brownback dropped out doesn't mean his supporters went away. It only means they found another candidate they thought well represented the Christian right.

That's hardly meteoric. *shrug* Whatever sells newspapers, I guess.

Here's why it's NOT disingenuous to say only RP can beat Hillary. The moderate undecideds and the true libertarian strain conservative voters, will never support a RudyMcRomney GOP nominee.

That means that Hillary will cakewalk into the WhiteHouse.

People are fed up with the warmongering and speak conservative  out of one side of your mouth and cut contrary deals with lobbyists, corporate interests and private bankers out of the other tactics they've been getting from the current GOP ruling class of politicians.

Any Democrat is in a strong position right now to a majority of the voters because it's a 'change' from the disgusting goings ons of the last 2 terms.

Therefore only a true fiscal conservative with liberty at their core, which makes them definable as 'liberal' to those still stuck in the false left/right paradigm of politics on social issues can win.

While Dr. Paul is not a neo-social liberal per say, his libertarian Government hands off approach to social issues plays well to people who put emphasis on so called 'liberal' social issues.

The bottom line is, despite their best efforts to pollute the waters so badly as to make all people completely disgusted with politics completely, regardless of the 'party', there is a man amongst us today running for the highest office in our land, that is truly founding father material and understands that the constant yearning of man's soul is to be free. Jefferson, Washington, Adams and their brethren knew it - and that's why and how our once great Republic was founded.  Dr. Paul represents everything that is truly and UNIQUELY American.  He represents the peoples best hope to return to those principles and ideals that have made us the brightest beacon of hope during the 18th, 19th, and early parts of the 20th century.

We've done much to tarnish that torch of freedom, and it's in danger of becoming extinguished....but Ron Paul represents the opportunity to rekindle it and let it burn out clear and bright once more.

Romeny, Rudy, McCain, even Huckabee, and Tancredo all have too many negatives to truly unite the voters.

Nominate any one of them and the voters will flock to whomever the Democratic nominee is in droves.

And make book on it, it will be Hillary, I've said so for over 2 years and finally people are paying attention.

Say NO to 2 family dynasty rule.

    Restore our Republic.

    Sincerest regards,

    Revolutn

Ron Paul will win in a shocking upset! Here are some reason's why I believe Ron Paul will win in Iowa or rather why the other candidates will not.

Mike Huckabee has some serious answering to do regarding his disturbing history regarding the release of murderer and rapist Wayne Dumond who raped a cousin of Bill Clinton and later murdered again. From early reports, this is going to shock many of his supporters and potentially ruin his campaign.

Mitt Romney has exposed himself a a blatant lier and opportunist. Flip-flopper is just another term for panderer. He comes off as dishonest and people are dropping him in droves. And now there are reports and video's of eyewitness evidence of Straw Poll rigging and Romney's people cheating and laughing gleefully.

Rudolph Guiliani is the least qualified of all the candidates to be President. His history is pretty shady to say the least. We have only just begun to find out some of the dirty truth about Rudy. He was a failure before, during and after 9/11, yet he tries to imply he is some sort of brave hero. He contributed nothing positive or of meaning to the victims. It was just a PR event for him, just ask any of the thousands of people now dieing from the toxic dust.

Fred Thompson seems to only want to be President in order to do what the last three administrations have done. His involvement in the Watergate scandal and his lobbying history leaves a lot to be desired. He doesn't seem to have any positions and he lacks creditability and enthusiasm.

John McCain followed this administration and continues to support the occupation of Iraq. His "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Iran" song was reprehensible to say the least. He's just another typical politician. I'm surprised he's still running.

Ron Paul has the best solutions for most of our problems. The people know it and the establishment has been giving due notice. How could you not vote for a man who defends your liberties and upholds the Constitution and his oath of office. He is the only real choice in the Republican field.

Kucinich and Gravel seem to the be the only Democrats with any kind of integrity. The rest are CFR associates.

Impossible for a warmonger to win There is no way in hell that the Christians who are the core demographic of the GOP are going to vote for another warmonger, after they've felt the blood of a million dead Iraqis on their hands, seen 15,000 soldiers commit suicide, watched their children being sold into slavery to enrich the corrupt, seen the constitution turned to trash, and America turned from the land of the free and the home of the brave into the land of torture and the home of the terrorized coward.

I voted for GWB the first time (fooled me once), but I'm hitting the trail hard, spending my treasure, to get Dr. Paul nominated this time, because I think he's the only hope this country has left.  The alternative is degradation, shame, fascism, and bloodshed.

Electability This threat is suppose to be about electability; not whether a candidate is a good and honest person. Thus, I am going to address the issue at two levels. First the Iowa caucus and the the national election.

Iowa is a largely conservative state, which, in the general election, will, most likely, go for the Republican candidate no matter who he is. The same reason gives Huckabee the edge. However, he would need a very large edge to go into NH with momentum. Romney only needs to place a strong second to stay in the show. Many are saying that Paul will be third. But this will depend on several factors. We know that his followers are devoted, and that they are going to show up at the caucuses regardless of the weather. Thus, inclement weather will favor Paul. It will have to be seen how strong the support for the others turns out to be. It is one thing to answer a phone call and give your opinion. It is another to leave your house during a blizzard to go cast a ballot. The same is true of the remainder of the pack. This race remains up for grabs.

Nationally. Elections are decided by that 10 to 20% of the voter who are subject to be convinced, with the Republicans and Democrats more or less certain of dividing the remaining votes. To a certain degree the Democrats are better united, and their core voters will be OK with anybody. The same is not true of the Republicans. However, those who do not car for Giuliani or Paul have no other choice. I doubt that must will stay at home if one of these two fellows is the candidate, and they certainly are not going to pull the lever for the Democrat. Paul has the advantage that he carries no baggage of the Bush administration. The rest all do to a certain extend. He also gets a lot of cross voters; not only democrats, but independents as well as those who are generally apathetic. Not only that, he probably will get most of the votes that generally went to third party candidates. It seems to me that Paul is the best choice for the general election, but the core of the Republican party is not likely to give him the nomination.

Huckabee supported parole for rapist who then raped and murdered again. The mother of a woman who was raped and murdered in Missori has blamed Mike Huckabee for working to get the criminal paroed for political reasons. There have been news stories in major newspapers across the nation on this the last couple of days. Google Huckabee and rapist to read the stories. Learn why Huckabee is now going the way of another Mike, Dukakis, another liberal governor wwho was also too generous with a violent criminal.

You've got to be crazy. If you believe that Dr. Paul is crazy than you must truly be the crazy person.

Is it crazy to be the ONLY GOP candidate that follows the Constitution instead of considering it "a damn piece of paper" like George W. Bush does?

Every President, Senator or House Representative has to swear to abide by the Constitution when they are sworn into office.

Yet you call the ONLY GOP candidate running crazy because he feels like it is his Congressional duty to follow the Constitution.

Name one crazy thing about Dr. Paul and I will destroy it and prove you are wrong.

Ron Paul - Last Best Chance for America Anyone who labels Ron Paul a "nut case" either does not know the facts, or is deliberately lying.

Ron Paul is a Doctor.  An author.  A principled Statesman. A Constitutional scholar.  An expert on economics.  An expert on our medical system.  A former military flight surgeon. A 10-term congressman with the most consistent record in the House.

So let's compare, all you "nutcase accusers".  What are YOUR credentials?

    Right.

    None.

All you know is "what you've heard" from rather dubious sources.  IF you CAN conduct your own research, do it.  Don't be a mouthpiece for some anti-freedom propaganda machine.  Learn the FACTS.

I've been aware of Ron Paul for more than 12 years. There's a large body of his writing on LewRockwell.com.  Over 400 papers.  Read them.  Tell us where he's wrong.

And then we'll talk about "Tax Hike Mike" (+$500,000,000 in taxes in ARKANSAS!), Lazy Fred (his reputation over his entire stint in the Senate.  Did he ever author a single bill?)  That slick, prepackaged, on-both-sides-of-every-issue Romeny.  Or how about 9/11!  Terrorism!!  SEPTEMBER 11th!!!  Yeah,  Check out the Youtube videos of Rudy and how he killed hundreds of firemen on 9/11.  He wasn't leading New York!  He was running AWAY from the horror he'd contributed to! Tancredo?  He's only got one note - but it's at least a correct note!

And you want to compare THESE to someone who could be Thomas Jefferson reincarnated?

    Get a CLUE!

All due respect to Mr. Paul... ...but I think his support may be overrated.  He has a strong grassroots campaign, but I think he has alienated too many people to receive serious consideration no matter how dedicated his followers.

Some of his ideas are scary.  Others are, quite simply, pure genius.  It will be interesting to see how he does... I would not support him at this point in time (in part due to the poison regularly spewed by *some* of his supporters, quite frankly), but I wouldn't mind seeing him mature his ideas further in the public eye, perhaps as vice-president and president-in-waiting to a Huckabee, maybe to a McCain.

Paul Has Stated He Will Not Accept V.P. Dr. Paul has stated he would not accept an offer for V.P. because he does not agree with the platforms of any GOP candidate on either domestic or foreign policy. Ron Paul wants out of Iraq and wants to cut spending. I don't see that with the other GOP candidates.

Fact is, if Ron Paul does not get the GOP nomination, his grassroots supporters WILL push for a thrid party run, and they will be able to rasie the money for it.

That will make Ron Paul a spoiler and guarantee a GOP loss for president - UNLESS (if Paul were not to be the nominee) the GOP nominee gives Paul a LOT in regards to what he wants at the convention.

No doubt about it - Ron Paul wields a LOT of power. Might as well niminate him since he is the only GOP candidate with a chance to beat Hillary anyway.

  • Freedom4AmericaGroup · 1 year ago
You just do NOT get it. Dr. Paul is the ONLY GOP candidate than WILL beat Godzillary in the general election.

You will NOT find that any GOP Warmonger stands a chance against the Anti-War Democrats when the MSM's own polls show that 70% of Americans polled want us OUT of Iraq.

I HATE politics and do NOT consider myself having any knowledge of politics.  That is why I am voting for a STATESMAN instead of a sleazy politician.  What I am, although, is a REALIST and the reality is that ONLY an Anti-War GOP candidate has a chance to defeat Godzillary.

To say that Dr. Paul's supporters turn you off of him, even though you believe many of his ideals, is truly a cop out.  I also am turned off by many of his supporters but I'm NOT voting for them.  I'm voting for the STATESMAN that cares about America and its inhabitants more than anybody else.

Dr. Paul became a Congressman, NOT to become famous or powerful, but because economics intrigued him and even 30 years ago he saw that the USA was heading for economic disaster.  He tried his hardest to warn Congress and the Presidents in the last 30 years but they were NOT interested in fixing the economy and still are not.  Dr. Paul is the ONLY one even mentioning how to FIX the economy.

Other GOP candidates want to continue the mistake and, mark my words, will put an end to our Liberties and Sovereignty.  The Democrats will cause the end to come even faster because all of their Socialist ideas they wish to start will totally BANKRUPT this country.  To pay for the Democrat's ideas our taxes would have to be 50% or more just at the Federal level.

It took Dr. Paul 30 years to get his Message out, of Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness for ALL individuals no matter what race they are, but NOW the Message is out and being spread around the World and not just in the USA.

I am NOT talking like an empty paper bag.  I am also a Forex trader and I see on a per minute basis just how bad the dollar is suffering.  Even though Forex trading is closed for another 17 hours I just checked my account and since August 16th of this year the dollar has dropped 1215 pips against the euro.

That is totally unheard of in Forex.  Most the time it will fall a hundred pips at the most one day and the next day recover or even increase.  But, every time the Fed dropped the interest rate, by dumping Billions of freshly printed or created dollars into circulation, I saw the dollar drop significantly and NOT recover.

ONLY Dr. Paul knows how to FIX our Economy and that should be the Major issue for ALL candidates but Dr. Paul is the ONLY one speaking out about it.

Sorry, I get kind of carried away when I speak about the dollar and Dr. Paul.  So many people just do NOT get it.  If the dollar crashes then the USA is gone as we all know it.

Now ask yourself this.  Do I support the People's candidate or do I not support him because I'm angry at his supporters?

You have a point JC. If Dr. Paul is not nominated as the Republican candidate then I believe we need to convince him to run under an Independent ticket.

Since we are so well organized I see no reason that we can not raise the funds that he needs to be put onto the ballots of ALL 50 states plus DC.

Of course, I am going to do my BEST to see that he IS the Republican Nominee but just in case they decide to cheat, like they have been known to, we need a back-up plan.

... Stuff like this doesn't help.

    * Paul the only candidate that will beat Hillary in a general election?  I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt via time, but right now that's just not true.  Paul may be the only 'name' candidate that would *not* have a chance at beating Hillary today, and the reason why is not any inferiority on Paul's part or superiority on anyone else's part.  It's simply a matter of public perception - the first thing that comes to mind when you think of McCain, Huckabee, or a couple others is somewhat position, but deserved or not the 'nutcase' label (as so 'eloquently' stated by an earlier poster ) is what sticks to Paul for now.

    * Remember - I may 'believe many of his ideals', as you put it.  I also think 'some of his ideas are scary', as I put it.  No cop-out here.  No need for the label on your part either, I think?

    * Name-calling everyone else associated with the GOP doesn't build bridges... it burns them.

    * The war in Iraq isn't the only major issue on the table.  For many people, it's not even a major issue.  Basing an argument on that point alone is a bit sketchy.  Claiming it's the only relative point in the upcoming election is wishful thinking (and that, my friend, is a very polite way to describe it).

    * Same thing with the power of the dollar.  It's important, yes.  Claiming that only Ron Paul has the 'Solution' is not only very audacious, but it *sounds* insolent and even a bit 'cultish'.  Substance over style, I know... but the issue at hand isn't *just* me and how I will vote.  It is how the majority of Americans will see Mr. Paul.

    * Speaking of which, Ron Paul's devotees are a major issue here which cannot be minimized.  Being bold and in-your-face is good to some extent, but for a candidate like Paul who isn't getting much press time from major outlets, the Average Joe sees what?  The supporters (especially on the Internet).  Consider yourself an apostle (in Christian-ese terms) for Paul - you may be the only Ron Paul someone ever sees.  If you don't represent him well in attitude as well as substance, how can you expect other people to look beyond the surface?

"Now ask yourself this.  Do I support the People's candidate or do I not support him because I'm angry at his supporters?"

I'm not angry at all Paul supporters, just mildly disgusted regarding some.  And like I said - I'd already consider the guy in a secondary role.  Time might change that in a positive direction, but this kind of rhetoric about how Paul is the Ultimate Solution and Everyone Else is Evil and No One Else Can Save The Universe From Darth Hillary (you get the drift, no?) isn't going to be what changes my mind.

And furthermore, it's not going to be what changes anyone else's mind.  Which is what you, and Mr. Paul as well, should really be thinking about.

  • KingCorran · 1 year ago
Also FYI, I will not be checking this forum for a response.  I *will* look into Dr. Paul further, so rest easy on my account at least.  You can still reply to my points to your hearts content - I'm just saying I won't be bookmarking the article to review them later.

But please.  Take my warning to heart, Paul supporters.  If your candidate is worth the effort you put into him, then he deserves a good public image.  Do what you can to fight for him in a way that is attractive to other people, rather than repulsive.  It can be done - one of Huckabee's very strongest points IMHO.  Add that to your campaign, and the sky may indeed be the limit.

I can see where you are coming from. I should have been more professional and not called Hillary by a name.  As I said I'm NOT a politician and was just having fun.

Looks like I will need to be more professional from now on.  But my name calling is like "Mr. Rogers" compared to many other supporters and I do NOT just mean Dr. Paul's supporters either.

Have you taken a look at Mike Huckabee's forum?  If that forum is real some of the things in there would actually scare me from looking into Mr. Huckabee if I found that forum from a search.

I know, now I sound like a hypocrite because I just got done telling you that supporters do NOT make the candidate.  But telling people that visit the forum they are going to go to hell and that they should just nuke Iran is very scary to me.

Check it out yourself.  Maybe you can find out if it is real because if it is not the real forum than somebody should be alerted.

If Paul isn't the Republican Nominee... ... I won't vote Democrat.  I won't vote Republican (though I have previously for 30 years).  I might vote 3d party (if Paul decides to run 3 party).  Otherwise, Mickey Mouse gets my vote.

If the Republican Party is so politicized, blind, stupid, amoral, immoral, money-hungry, power-hungry  and just bloody pig-ignorant that they'd nominate anyone other than Paul from the current candidate pool, then I am no longer a Republican and they will get what they deserve - a positive THRASHING at the polls.

I am so sick of the status quo, the slow bleeding of my wealth and freedom, I would honestly prefer total social collapse, chaos and even violent overthrow of the government to the slow, painful death the other candidates offer us.

Read the Declaration of Independence.  How many of the conditions that resulted in our revolt against King George apply to the current "king George"?

Violent collapse? Wheelbarrow full of dollars needed to buy a loaf of bread?

Perhaps those pushing us into this situation will then get what they so richly deserve... the Nicolae Ceausescu treatment.  And the morons who supported them can starve in the streets.

You think life is hard?  Just watch what happens if anyone but Ron Paul is elected.  Not saying this as a Ron Paul partisan.  I've been expecting the end of America within the decade since before he announced.  Everything has been going downhill, and it's been accelerating.  Four more years of this stuff and America is toast.

    Mr Restore the REPUBLIC

Democracy will be known as the dissappointment of this age.  Thomas Jefferson once said that "Democracy is the most vile form of goverment there is".  So what happened to our republic and why did we abandon the Constitution and the rule of law?

Western Civilization distinguished itself from the jungle by its law.  Law did not begin  when William the Conqueror set up his Court. The Norman Kings did establish a system of juriprudence which became known as the English Common law or Common law.

Chief Justice Joseph Story in his 1836 commentaries on the Constitution stated that the "People" came to view the common law as their inheritance and birthright.

The common law has two branches, law and equity.  The Constitution limited the judicial power of the United States to "all cases in law and equity".  So... where are the common law courts of law and equity today?

If we have common law right inherited from our fathers or inalienable rights given by our creator... where are the common law courts which recognize and protect these right?  Where is our INHERITANCE AND BIRTHRIGHT?

A republic is based upon fixed laws which transcend generations and are not alterable by a majority vote or mob rule.  A democracy can best be defined as "two wolves and a sheep voting between themselves what shall be for lunch".

I suspect that Jefferson listed democracy as the most vile form of goverment and rated it even worse than a despot monarchy for the reason that: any form of government that protects inocent human life, liberty and property can be called a good government.  Any government that does not protect innocent human life, liberty or property is bad goverment.  A monarchy can administer government well, and then it can become an evil despot.  Democracy can do the same.  But you can kill an evil despot when he ceases to do justice.  But how do you kill an evil democracy?

A republic limits the powers of government to specific limited and enumerated powers.

Our constitution is only given lip service today.  One former Supreme Court justice Thurgood Marshal admitted in a public speech that "although the union survived the civil war, the Consitution did not".  Quite a statement for someone who took an oath to support it.  Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas had a different and probably more accurate opinion at his confirmation hearing.  He said that the Consitution survived the civil war, but the Declaration of Independence did not.  THE Declaration of independance was written on the premise that rights came from God and were inalienable and did not come from government.

If America is to return to greatness, it must return to the rule of law and re-establish courts of common law, based upon those fixed principles unalterable by majority votes.

Under that system, those that run the federal reserve would be tried for counterfeiting money and enslaving a generation.

Ron Paul is the only candidate telling the truth, and seems to know the way home.

Huckabee's rise in voter polls Mike Huckabee's rise in the polls recently is a direct correlation to Pat Robertson endorsing Rudy Giuliani last month. Huckabee's support numbers were dismal if not anemic before Robertson backed Giuliani. The so-called "Christian right" saw the endorsement as a total flip flop on the part of Robertson who has preached an anti-abortion stance since he began the Christian Coalition movement years ago and then when he endorsed Giuliani who has stated for the record as being Pro-abortion Robertson's followers flocked to the only "Christian" candidate left in the race that is an Anti-abortionist. It wasn't a week after Robertson endorsed Giuliani that Huckabee's numbers surged. To many right wing "Christian" voters it was the straw that broke the camels back as far as supporting Giuliani.

I agree with everything you just said. I just had to say something... I am amazed that you wrote down my thoughts on the matter... even your estimation of the Democratic candidates.

If only everyone could hear Ron Paul's message, perhaps America would receive hope and become the best country in the world to live in again.

Huckabee Must Be EXPOSED !! Huckabee's popularity can also be atributed to the 'hijacking' of Congressman Ron Paul's stances.

Huckabee, known in his home state as 'Tax-Hike Mike', has now adopted Dr. Paul's stance of abolishing the IRS, and "Treating other countries as we would have them treat us", foreign policy. Neither of which are of his nature.

As an example: He NOW claims to be tough on Illegal Immigration. Proposing a fence, no amnesty, blah blah blah.

His record shows otherwise! His "sleight of hand" on issues is insight of what America can look forward to if elected.

In 2006, he supported President Bush's immigration plan and claimed that opposition to Bush's proposal was driven by "racism or nativism" and that it wasn't amnesty.

As Governor, Huckabee fought for in-state tuition and taxpayer funded scholarships for illegal immigrants. He opposed legislation to require proof of citizenship in order to obtain public benefits and to vote.

He vocally opposed a raid on a factory in Arkansas that employed illegal immigrants. And he led an effort to bring a Mexican Consulate to Arkansas - one of the main functions of the Consulate would be to issue identification cards to Mexicans living, both legally and illegally, in the U.S.!!

Ron Paul - Least Best Chance for America Sorry, Ron Paul doesn't magically become a good candidate by virtue of the fact that every other candidate sucks.  I think I made that pretty clear in my first post and also made it clear that I didn't support a single one of them.  Least of evils, maybe.  The god that people like you make him out to be?  No.

And it's funny that you bring up "what I've heard" considering the number of supposed Ron Paul supporters that I've baffled by bringing up his positions on certain issues.  There are a ton of idiots who simply hear that he's anti-war and see that he doesn't bullshit and that's all they need to conclude that they support him.  There was a time when that is what made him appeal to me.

Also, if I need credentials to disagree with a candidate then just the same you should need credentials to agree with him.  Doesn't make much sense does it.

oh those nasty republicans Republicans have shown their true colors.  They have whole heartedly wrapped their arms around this war with every filibuster of an iraq pullout vote.  Ron Paul hates gays, blacks, and latinos.  Not to mention the poor.  While he is no different than any other republican swine, he WILL prove invaluable to Democrats.

I encourage all of you racist republicans here to continue to support ron paul as he will hopefully garner at least 10% of the "conservative" (aka racist) vote.

PS. Watch what you say about hillary, with the new found executive powers she'll be granted thanks to you sorry people, she'll declare you an enemy non-combatant and make you a non-citizen, ship you down to gitmo and seize your finances and spy on your kids.  Thanks Dubya!

VERY Distrubing Stuff on Huck Seems Huck did not just release rapist Dumond against the wishes of many, and Dumond went on to rape and murder after being released.

Huck has a habit of freeing a LOT of rapists and murderers.

Paul Supporters I just wanted to let everyone know I am a Paul supporter mainly based on his record and financial views. I do agree with many other ones and disagree with some.

Yes, we do have some abbrasive, nutty, unproffesional, uneducated, and I am sure a few other categories. I would just like to say many of his supporters are just your regular working americans that are tired of the struggle to just barely survive. Many are worried about all types of issues especially the ones that effect them the most on which most of us vote.

I am sure every candidate has their supporters that make them cringe. I think the ones that stand out on Paul's side are a bigger focus for the fact Paul is not exactly on the big business and current establishment's best friends list.

I ask of the readers to not disregard Paul because of some of his extreme supporters, but to actually go out and find facts and history that backs him up. Just because I don't like some of the players on my favorite football team does'nt mean I should just stop liking the team. There are bad apples and different view point in every circle.

I am supporting Paul because I do think this country is on the brink of some horrifying things to come if its not addressed.

Do your own research everyone! If you research and drill for the facts and records then I have no problem with you disagreeing with supporting Paul. This is supposed to be a free country and I will respect those rights to everyone.

In the end all I hope for is a better country and Dr. Paul is the only way I can see that chance happening. (through my eyes of course)

God Bless you all and God Bless America!

Huckabee First??? NOT!! How does a man go from ZERO to HERO in only a couple of weeks?  The polls are clearly fixed.  Hucks being propped up the the powers that be as the other choice because he supports continued war in the middle east.  The NeoCons must have their war, and they know Romney and Rudy have no chance, so they've seen to it to fix polls.

Ron Paul will win in Iowa, becasue Iowans love freedom and liberty.

Not So Ron Paul is altogether different.

He doesn't align with the other "Conservatives" or "Republicans". As he says: "They have lost their way." This is exactly how the name, Dr. No, originated.

Your utterances parroting the Main Stream Media's 'spoon-fed' slanderous rhetoric are the same of those who seek to insidiously destroy America by using race and gender division to drive a wedge through America's heart.

Ron Paul does NOT "hate" any of the people you described.

Dr. Paul DOES, however, believe in individual rights - not collective rights.

It's a sad day indeed when people would trade America's freedoms and sovereignty for 'special rights' [big biz as well], by way of discounting a man who wants nothing more than to restore the foundation on which America was founded, the government out of our business, and [big] business out of government!

As for the 90% of other candidates: They are pro-amnesty, pro-illegal immigration [aka: pro-big business profits], pro-war, pro-taxes, pro-WTO, pro-NWO, pro-NAU, CAFTA, NAFTA, SPP, etc [too many to list].

As Senator John McCain said: "He [Ron Paul] is the most honest man in Washington."

Besides, you're missing the bigger picture here.

Ron Paul would actually HELP the poor and the middle classes!

By simply bringing ALL of our troops home from illegal wars and occupation, cutting obviously un-necessary government programs, eliminating the un-constitutional income tax, and cutting foreign aid: He would actually help these classes by eliminating the need to tax us in the first place!!!!!

Does this make too much sense? For some, its simplicity seems too complex.

PS: It is "you people's" contrary & pessimistic thinking that will damn the USA.

    EXPECT NOTHING - GET NOTHING.

    THANKS FOR NOTHING!

The Beer Vote I know I'm going to catch hell for this, but here goes...

Don't underestimate the power of the "beer vote". People want to vote for nice folks. They want to vote for people who they want to sit down and have a beer with. Huckabee is that guy. He's genial, funny and seems to have a very pleasant personality. He cracks jokes during the debates and isn't afraid to poke fun at himself.

Ron Paul, and the rEVOLution, as far as my limited perception goes, isn't coming across like that. Now, I know presidential politics is serious business--I don't need a lecture on that. I know there are big issues and big problems facing the country. But if you guys would just lighten up a little bit, I think you'd win over more converts than you can imagine. Just look at how much traction Huckabee got out of that silly Chuck Norris commercial and Hillary got out of that commercial with the guy with the sick kid. You can't expect all of America to do it's homework--that's where image comes in. Like Mary Poppins said, "A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down..."

Gore?   How could someone be fore Ron Paul now and Gore before? Ron Paul is small and hands off, Gore is all about telling us what to do through federal and "world" laws. We would have been even worse off with that nut case.

Huckabee surge is Media generated, not grassroots support! The mainstream media is pushing Huckabee not the grassroots voters. Like the man said, after Huck's visit to the C.F.R. he started going up in the rigged National polls that don't even offer Ron Paul as a choice. But they neglect to inform you of that little known fact. The moneyed elite and the military industrial complex war profiteers and big oil are terrified of Ron Paul! They see how he is galvanizing Americans of all ethnic, social, and political backgrounds. They know if he gets in office some heads are gunna roll. Indictments and investigations galore, criminal administrations being held accountable for their betrayal of the American people.

You want to see grassroots support? compare Ron Paul's meetup groups at meetup.com here is the link.

    http://ronpaul.meetu...

After that check for yourself how Ron Paul has 10 times the amount of meetup groups and members of all the candidates Democratic or republican combined!

He has a real movement behind him and it grows by nearly 800 new members per day, astounding.

A "sign" of things to come? I live in a small town of about 11,000 people in South East Iowa and have been noticing a trend building over the last few weeks.

Both Clinton and Obama have spoken here in town hall type meetings and I obviously started to notice Clinton and Obama signs popping up in peoples yards. However over the last few weeks I've been noticing Ron Paul signs springing up in yards like wildfire! In fact I would say that the Ron Paul signs now outnumber both Clinton and Obama (and the 1 Mit Romney sign in town, we do after all live right accross the river from Naveou Mormon Town).

I personally didn't believe Ron Paul stood a chance in this election but from what I've been seeing here in my hometown I now have to wonder. Is this a sign of things to come? At least from a grass roots level here it sure looks that way.
